Elba Island, a pearl in the Mediterranean Sea!
Elba is the largest island of the Tuscan Archipelago, a corner of paradise with a great variety of very different natural environments: crystal clear sea, mountains with centuries-old woods, enchanting sea beds, green expanses of flourishing Mediterranean bush and a very rich and precious biodiversity. The imprint of the past lives on in magical places: the small hilltop villages immersed in a timeless quiet, the evocative Etruscan and Roman archaeological sites, the ancient mines from which iron was extracted, towers, churches, fortresses.
Today Elba is a renowned tourist destination. It is part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park (www.islepark.it) and has a 300 kilometer long network of trails!
Ideal for the outdoors and perfect for discovering local traditions and excellences with quality food and wines. A magnetic island with an extraordinarily mild climate that makes it extremely pleasant to visit even in low season (from March to June and from September to November).
Procchio, your dream holiday!
Procchio, the largest sandy beach in the north of the island, is a stretch of fine, golden sand. The slow and gradual depth of the water makes it ideal for children or for those who are not very familiar with the sea. The rocky bottoms offer an unmissable opportunity for diving enthusiasts. In the winter months the beaches are often deserted, perfect for relaxing, walking and breathing the sea air. Around Procchio there is a wonderful ring of paths full of charm and history, to be discovered on foot and by mountain bike. Do not miss the Etruscan fortress of Monte Castello from the III century BC.
The town, despite being small, is well organized and offers the main services all year round. Thanks to its strategic position, Procchio is a fundamental road junction. It takes 20 minutes to reach Portoferraio, where the main port is located, 15 minutes to Marina di Campo and Marciana Marina. Only 10 minutes to the airport.
